When I get to travel I always collect random observations of that trip. Things that stick out to me from the normal day-to-day. My wife had a class in California and I tagged along for the trip. Below are a few of the things that caught my attention while in California.
- I took a half-day trip to the Apple Visitors Center at Apple Park as any good nerd would do if I were presented with the chance.
- Apple posted the sign above in the Cafe Macs. There was nothing visibly wrong at all.
- You can’t swing a cat without hitting three Teslas.
- At the time of writing this gas in California was $4.99 versus home of $3.29.
- Coming from Rhode Island everything in the Sonoma area we were was 30-35 minutes away .
- If you used maps to see how far a destination was you could multiply the mileage by 3:00-3:30 min per mile to estimate your travel time.
- I am sure this sounds ridiculous but the Golden Gate Bridge was much shorter driving over than I had imagined it. I drive over a 2.1-mile bridge every day.
- Living on the east coast near the water the fog is nothing new to me but the fog is the thickest I have ever seen when it rolls in.
- The microclimate differences in a few miles are amazing.
- The predominant car color in the northern part of California is white.
- I did not like In-and-Out Burger at all.
- Driving down the PCH 1 should be the training ground for all drivers preparing for an F1 race.
- In seven days I saw one UPS truck
- We passed 500 wineries and did not go to any.
- Everything in California was a lot more expensive than I thought it would be. Breakfast for two (eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast) and two coffees was $78.00
